about

James studied at the Bournemouth & Poole College of Art & Design in the UK. For over 35 years he has been working as a painter and media director. He is the founder and managing director of the production company Surefire Media, based in Sydney, Australia.
Painting has always been a constant meditative practice for James. Lately, art and art-making are providing an even greater flame of inspiration, offering solace, newfound comfort, and inner peace.
Recent works find inspiration and subject matter in rural Australia, the ocean and still-life subjects, with ideas of isolation, quietness, contemplation, memories, solitude, and a momentary view - leaving, belonging, and returning.
James uses part representational techniques: painting mostly on wooden panels and linen with charcoal underdrawing, mixed media, and wax mediums.
